OUR NUMBER ONE WAY TO STAY GROUNDED THROUGH MERCURY RETROGRADE
‘Tis the astrological season for technology mishaps, miscommunications, delays and forgetting your wallet at home (I did it twice in 24 hours) - It’s Mercury Retrograde! From April 21 through to May 17, this planetary transit is in the fixed earth sign of Taurus. This means you could possibly feel the urge to reflect on your past. The movement in retrograde tells us that a planet is moving backwards in it’s natural path. The reverse movement is prompting us to RE-view, RE-work, and RE-do the area of life ruled by that planet. The planet of Mercury governs communication, travel, and tech. In this digital age at a hyperdrive pace, these are all very prominent themes in our day-to-day life. So, it’s no surprise that Mercury in Retrograde aka Reggaeton aka Gatorade aka whatever other many viral terms the Memes have christened it, is the cosmic happening is the one we “feel” the most.
Often getting a bad rap as a not so great time, Mercury Retrograde can give us a wake up call to see if we are operating in our fullest consciousness, in alignment with our purpose and evaluate what our next step is without taking action. This doesn’t have to be a horrible thing, but instead presents a chance to be introspective and to slow down instead of running on autopilot as most of us do. It a chance to see if we are able to surrender to flow, instead of force - whether life is leading us through turbulent waters or waves of serenity. Here is our favourite way to help you keep your bearings through Mercury’s backwards dance and stay 10 toes down, word to Nipsey Hussle.
The recipe for avoiding Mercury Retrograde misteps?
With wires getting crossed more than usual, both literally and figuratively, it’s very easy to for us to find ourselves in frustrating situations. The faster you move, the more likely you are to make a mistake. We have a mass thinking of living life at the speed of light. During this time, make sure that you’re not forgetting anything by checking twice, and being more mindful than usual. As Mercury even tests the inner communication within our own bodies and minds, you may be “mentally” answered your client’s important conversation in you inbox but not actually doing so; or you could’ve sworn that you put your phone in your pocket before you headed off to work this rising. Also let’s face it, nothing is worse than waking up without your alarm going off just to find that you forgot to fill up your tank last night - Yikes.
Try this short and simple breathing exercise with a visual & auditory aid from Black Dog Institute’s Youtube Channel. If you find it useful, use the practice to pause and slow down throughout your day to give yourselves moments to check in with yourself before your next move.
If you want to explore your breathing in stillness through a guided meditation or linking your breath with movement though a yoga class near you in Brampton, then come home to yourself at The Aura House.
