The How-Tos of Mindful Gift Giving
Here at The Aura House, mindfulness is at the core of mostly everything we do! In moments of stress or unease, incorporating mindfulness can help you achieve a sense of groundedness and presence. The holidays are a magical time, but it’s no secret that they can also be stressful. So when the stress of the holiday season—particular holiday shopping—starts to creep in turn to our tips on mindful gift giving this holiday season!
Community Week 2021
From the very beginning, our goal has been to be more than just another Brampton yoga studio. We wanted to create a community where people can explore the different modalities we offer like reiki, meditation, yoga, and sound healing, and feel like they belong. That’s why we have community week. Community week is our way of giving back to the people who have trusted and stuck with us over the past year and a half while simultaneously welcoming in those who are just starting to explore.
‘Tis the Season to Support Local!
Last year, we all heard the cry to support small local businesses during the holidays. For many small businesses in Brampton, a successful holiday season can make or break their year. The call to support small is something we will forever shout from the rooftops. We’re not just a yoga studio— we're also a retail space and have several small businesses and local makers who sell their products through The Aura Store. Whether you’re treating your loved ones or treating yourself, The Aura Store is a great place to start.

Consent Cards and Why We Use Them
Our goal at The Aura House is and has always been to create a safe space where people from every walk of life can come to rest, heal, and reconnect with themselves and the world around them. That goal is embodied in everything from the pillars on which The Aura House was founded, to the way we interact when you walk through our doors. That’s why we use consent cards.
Samhain Community Day at The Aura House
This year, we’re having our own Samhain celebration here at the studio with our very first Community Day, a three-part special event. Here’s what you can expect:
Setting Up Your Space for Virtual Practice
Many of us have become well-accustomed to virtual practice since the beginning of the pandemic, and many of us are still practicing from home. One of our goals at The Aura House has always been to create a safe and comfortable space for our community to explore the many wellness modalities we have on offer here— and we want to be able to extend that same energy to our friends joining us online. We’ve compiled a list of some of our tips for setting up your space for a safe and comfortable virtual practice until we can all be reunited once more!
Fill a Purse for a Sister x The Aura House
Did you know that according to the Canadian Women’s Foundation, 3,491 women and their 2,724 children sleep in shelters in Canada on any given night? Many of them are fleeing unsafe home situations, leaving them without the basic comforts that a lot of us take for granted each day. Those staggering numbers are what prompted Angel Freedman to found the Fill a Purse For a Sister Campaign.
Learning and Unlearning: Orange Shirt Day and The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation
On September 30th, we will be honouring Orange Shirt Day with a contribute-what-you-can all-level yoga class here at The Aura House. 100% of proceeds will be going directly to the Anishnawbe Health Foundation. Anishnawbe Health Foundation is an Indigenous-led registered charity working to do incredibly important work in our community. The work they do has a direct impact by supporting the health and wellness of the urban Indigenous community, with a focus on the preservation and reclamation of traditional healing practices. Can't make it to the class but still want to show your support? Visit supportanishnawbe.ca to learn more and find out how you can donate and don’t forget to wear orange.
Back To Self: Starting fresh this fall
For many of us, September means BTS: back to school. After the past year and a half, starting to find our way back to our normal routines can feel exciting, nerve-wracking, relieving, and overwhelming all at the same time. As students, teachers, and school staff prepare to head back to school both online and in-person, why not try developing a BTS routine of your own and getting back to self. Not sure where to begin (or resume) your self-care journey? In addition to a selection of crystals, candles, and handmade soaps available to you in The Aura Store, we have a fresh fall schedule and three special events that may just be the perfect place to start.
The elephant in the room | Public Health & Non-Essential Spaces
Yesterday, the Ford Government announced that non-essential businesses (like ours) will be required to ask patrons for proof of vaccination or medical exemption starting September 22nd.
BYOP (Bring Your Own Props): A DIY guide
Props can be used as a way to help support the body in different shapes and postures and to ensure that we can maintain the integrity of postures to prevent injury.
